Draped checks clothes against your colours and your sizes while you shop on Vinted and ASOS. To do that it needs to know a few things about you. Most of them never leave your phone. This page lists what we keep, where, and how to get rid of it.
Who we are
Draped is run by Ellyn Fitzgerald. For UK data protection law we are the controller of the information described here. You can reach us at privacy@draped.london.
What stays on your phone
The app keeps these on your device, and we can’t see them unless you send them to us yourself:
- your colour season and your quiz answers
- the sizes you told us you wear, and body measurements if you entered any
- which brands and colours you’ve chosen to leave out, and your other settings
- items you’ve saved, and your recent searches
- a record of the listings Draped read while you browsed: the item’s name, brand, picture link and what Draped made of its colour, plus any items you long-pressed to tell us we got one wrong
- a technical log of what the app did, used to find bugs
Checking a garment’s colour happens on your phone. The app downloads the product photo from Vinted or ASOS and reads it on the device. No photo, and no result, is sent to us.
Photos of you
The colour quiz can use your camera so you can see colours held up next to your face. The photo stays in the app’s memory while you use that screen. It isn’t saved to your account and it isn’t uploaded. The quiz on our website works the same way: the photo stays in your browser.
If you create an account
An account lets your answers follow you to a new phone. You sign in with your email address and a code we email you, or with Apple or Google. If you sign in, we store:
- your email address (with Apple, this can be a private relay address Apple gives us)
- your colour season and quiz answers
- your sizes, including measurements if you entered them
- your settings: the colours and kinds of brand you’ve chosen to see or leave out
- which shop you use, and whether you finished setting up
- your plan, and when a free trial started and ends
Your saved items, searches and browsing record stay on your phone and are not part of your account. Only you can read your account data through the app. We can see it through our database provider when we need to fix something.
Session reports
While Draped is being tested, the settings screen has a button to send us a session report. Nothing is sent unless you tap it and choose where it goes. A report contains your season, your sizes and measurements, your settings, the record of listings Draped read, the items you flagged and the technical log. We use reports to find what went wrong and to improve how Draped judges colour and size. We delete them 12 months after we receive them.
Shopping on Vinted and ASOS in the app
The app shows Vinted’s and ASOS’s own websites. Anything you do on those sites, such as signing in, messaging a seller or buying, goes straight to them, under their privacy policies, not this one. Their sites can set cookies in the app just as they would in a browser. Draped doesn’t collect your passwords or payment details.
Our website
- If you join the waiting list, we store your email address to tell you when Draped is ready.
- If you sign in on the website, we use cookies to keep you signed in, and we store your colour season.
- We use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits to pages. It doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t identify you.
- The quiz can remember your season in your browser’s own storage.
Companies that handle data for us
- Supabase stores accounts and runs sign-in.
- Vercel hosts the website and counts page visits.
- Expo delivers app updates. The app tells it which version it is running.
- Sentry receives a report when the app crashes: what went wrong, the app version and the phone model. We don’t put your name, email or measurements in these reports.
- Apple and Google, only if you choose to sign in with them.
Some of these companies process data outside the UK. Where they do, they use the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK’s approved contract clauses. We don’t sell your data, and we don’t share it with advertisers.
Why we’re allowed to use it
- Your account, sizes and season: to provide the service you signed up for.
- Session reports and the camera: your consent, which you give each time.
- Crash reports, page counts and the waiting list email: our legitimate interest in keeping Draped working and telling people when it’s ready.
How long we keep it, and deleting it
We keep your account until you ask us to delete it. To delete it, email privacy@draped.london from the address you signed in with, and we’ll remove your account and everything stored with it within 30 days. Deleting the app removes what was stored on your phone. To leave the waiting list, email us and we’ll delete your address.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, delete it, or stop using it, and object to how we use it. Email us and we’ll reply within a month. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
Draped isn’t meant for anyone under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change what Draped collects or who handles it, we’ll update this page and the date at the top before the change goes live.
